Hello from green green upstate New York! My visit so far has been filled with family, food and lots of little fluffy dogs. I knew it was going to be a good trip home when my mom picked me up at the airport and announced that we had Moroccan Honey Cake waiting for us at home. AND then the next day my dad brings me home a pint of vegan mint chocolate chip from the mother land, Purity Ice Cream in Ithaca. Drool. And yes, I fully banked on gaining 10lbs this trip. Although, that may not happen at the rate my mom is kicking my butt with workouts in her studio.
I also banked on it being kind of cold and rainy – typical Upstate NY weather – but so far its been absolutely beautiful, if not too hot! It sounds like I left Boulder just in time because they got a food of snow this week! I’ll take some humidity and mosquitoes over another snow storm! I think Loki agrees.
Anyways, spending time with family > spending time writing a post, so I’ll leave you with a few pictures from our visit so far.
Loki was convinced that my mom would drop a meatball for him. And in the end, he got a meatball mixed up in his kibble. I think he likes it here.
Just when I think I’m awesome at word games, I come home and my parents and grandma promptly trounce me.
This is my mom’s aforementioned
torture chamber studio. Even Loki joined in on the workout.
We took my Dad’s plane, Hobbes (a 2004 AG-5B Tiger, get it?) out for a lovely morning flight.
I’m convinced my parents are both the coolest and cutest people I know (but maybe I’m a little biased…). BUT REALLY, look at them! They do so many aspirational things while continuing to learn new ways to be badass and are so in love. Talk about role model material.
We flew over the Finger Lakes – we use to have a cabin on Owasco. As Jesse says, I have “fond memories” of going to the cabin in the summer.
That big blue blob that runs into the horizon is NOT in fact the ocean, it’s Lake Ontario – you could just barely see Canada on the other side!
And in the middle of those 5 rectangular fields is my parent’s house! I waved to Loki as we flew over, but I’m pretty sure he was sound asleep on my pillow. Did I mention how green NY is???
Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy your Sunday!
